Milton Keynes Lightning beat Hull Seahawks 6-1 at Planet Ice Milton Keynes on Sunday afternoon in a dominant second-leg performance, but it was not enough to overturn the 3-1 deficit from Saturday's first leg at Hull. The aggregate score - 4-7 to Hull across the two matches -  means the Seahawks advance despite conceding six goals on Sunday, a result that will feel bittersweet for MK and their 1,773 crowd who watched a far better performance from their side than Saturday's had suggested.

Norris scored twice, Field and Jokinen added one each, and MK converted three power play goals - far more clinical than in Saturday's defeat. Hull's only reply was Stallard at 10:15, and from 29:03 when Lewis made it 4-1, the contest at the Seahawks' aggregate lead level became unmatchable.

MK make the perfect start — Hull equalise, Jokinen restores the lead

Norris scored unassisted at 7:44 to give MK an early lead. Stallard equalised for Hull at 10:15 -  Bonner and Musil assisting — to level the leg at 1-1. Spraggon was penalised for hooking at 11:40 and Jokinen converted the resulting power play at 13:02 - Norris and Cownie assisting — to make it 2-1 to MK on the night, level at 3-3 on aggregate. The first period ended 2-1 to MK.

MK score three in eight minutes — Hull's timeout can't stem it

The second period was one-sided. Heiskanen was penalised for tripping at 26:26 - served by Chamberlain — and Forsberg converted the power play at 28:31 from Cownie and Gabaj to make it 3-1 on the night. Hull called their timeout at 29:03 - simultaneously Lewis scored to make it 4-1. The timeout arrived at the moment of the goal, by which point Hull led 7-4 on aggregate and MK needed three more without reply. Lewis scored from Field's assist to make it 4-1. Hehir was penalised for high sticking at 28:03.

Kelly was penalised for roughing at 35:01. The second period ended 4-1 to MK, but 3-5 on aggregate to Hull.

Third period — MK add two more, but the tie is settled

Švec was penalised for hooking at 42:10 and Field scored on the power play at 43:29 — Gabaj and Howlett assisting — to make it 5-1. Norris scored his second at 45:26 from Spadafore to complete the 6-1 result. Spadafore was penalised for roughing at 48:11. The final score of 6-1 gave MK their biggest win of the play-off weekend — but across 120 minutes of hockey, Hull had scored seven goals to their four.
