Chelsea Meaney's four-goal performance - including a shorthanded strike to complete her hat-trick - was the standout moment in an emphatic women's hockey victory for the Dynamics.

Chelsea Meaney was virtually unstoppable on Saturday afternoon as Invicta Dynamics dismantled Lee Valley Vampires 8-3, producing one of the most complete attacking performances in the club's recent history. The forward finished with four goals, including a shorthanded effort to complete a hat-trick inside the third period - a feat that earned her the game's Player of the Match award alongside Vampires captain Dimitra Marmaropoulou.

Vampires draw first blood

Lee Valley made a composed start, and it was Jenna Hutchison who broke the deadlock just over four minutes in, converting from close range with Temi Jones picking up the assist. The Vampires looked capable of building on the lead, but Invicta levelled before the end of the first period when Meaney pounced on a Robyn Mapp delivery to equalise at 17:49. It was 1-1 going into the first intermission, with little suggestion of what was to follow.

Second period turns the game

The Dynamics took control in the middle frame. Robyn Mapp added a second for Invicta at 26:07 - capitalising on good work from Hayley Slaytor - before Laura Podstawka made it 3-1 on the power play, finishing off a Charlotte Davenport-Jeffery assist at 32:30.

Meaney then struck again just before the second intermission, beating the Vampires goalkeeper unassisted to make it 4-1. Lee Valley pulled one back with a power play goal of their own - Emily Dawson converting from Frederique Joosten's feed at 39:38 - but Invicta went into the final period with a two-goal cushion at 4-2.

Hat-trick and a shorthanded stunner seal the win

The third period belonged entirely to Invicta. With the Dynamics killing off a pair of penalties from the second frame, Meaney completed her hat-trick in the most eye-catching fashion possible - scoring shorthanded at 40:48, unassisted, to restore the three-goal advantage at 5-2. It was a goal that summed up her day: sharp, instinctive, and produced against the odds.
Meaney then struck again at 52:50 with Mapp providing her third assist of the afternoon, before Natalie Green added a seventh at 54:43 - Mapp again the provider. Hutchison pulled one back for the Vampires at 55:08, but Charlotte Davenport-Jeffery added gloss to the scoreline with Invicta's eighth at 56:15, assisted by Amanda Cue.

The final whistle confirmed an 8-3 win that could scarcely have been more convincing.

A word on Robyn Mapp

While Meaney took the headlines, Robyn Mapp was outstanding throughout. One goal and three assists gave her four points on the afternoon - matching her teammate's tally - and her ability to create space and find teammates in tight areas was a constant problem for the Vampires' defence.
Both Players of the Match were well deserved: Meaney for her clinical finishing and the shorthanded hat-trick goal; Marmaropoulou for her efforts in a difficult afternoon for Lee Valley.
